Grand Marnier dark chocolate brownies

Grand Marnier dark chocolate brownies

Chocolate orange is my favourite sweet combination. I love it with a passion bordering on obsessive.

Here’s a couple of other chocolate orange recipes I have shared on the blog previously: chocolate whole orange cake

Chocolate orange bundt cake:

This new recipe combines three of my favourites: chocolate orange. Brownies. Booze. What more could a gal possibly need in life?

These Grand Marnier dark chocolate brownies are rich and gooey and total decadence. Don’t feel the need to rush out and buy Grand Marnier – orange liqueur such as triple sec is cheaper and for the purposes of this recipe just as good.

I suggest cutting the brownies into very small squares to serve. Dust with icing sugar if desired or leave as is.

GATHER:

150 grams dark chocolate, chopped

115 grams unsalted butter

1/3 cup vaster sugar

Finely grated zest of one large orange

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 large eggs

3/4 cup self raising flour

6 tablespoons Grand Marnier

Grand Marnier chocolate brownies The Hungry Mum.

LET’S GET TO IT:

Preheat oven to 170C.

In a large saucepan melt chocolate and butter over a low heat until just melted and combined.

Remove from heat and set aside for 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, grease and line a 20cm x 20cm square cake tin, allowing baking paper to overhang on two sides for easy removal.

Stir in Grand Marnier and beat in eggs.

Tip in sugar, flour, vanilla, zest and stir until glossy and combined.

Pour into the tin and bake for around 30 minutes or until they are starting to firm up around the edges.

Remove from oven and allow to cool in tin before cutting into squares.

Booze plus baking always gets my vote. These sound really delicious – will try and make them for my book club gathering tonight. I know they’d go down a storm

The brownies look good. I’m not sure if you’ve tried this recipe before, but since you love booze and baking, Bailey’s cheesecake. 🙂

Yep, this combination works for me. Do you think triple sec would work just as well?

My mom would love this! She really enjoys the combination of orange and chocolate. I appreciate you mentioning that Triple Sec would work, too. Do you think any flavor of liqueur would work? Thanks so much for sharing your recipe!

Your mum has good taste 🙂 Triple sec and orange obviously go well together as they are both citrus but maybe give it a go with whatever liqueur you wish. I haven’t tried any others. Let me know how it goes!
