When it comes to breakfast I always choose savoury over sweet. I don’t *get* how people can eat muffins before noon and call it a meal. After making these ever-so-scrumptious sticky lemon buns with cream cheese frosting I almost understand the idea of a sweet breakfast.

I made these beauties after finding the recipe on TheKitchn website. That place is a treasure trove of amazing recipes that you’ll want to bookmark.

The recipe is here – http://www.thekitchn.com/recipe-sticky-lemon-rolls-with-111307

I didn’t change a thing & it worked out perfectly. Too perfectly. I am or may not have eaten 6 of these in one sitting…

Ohhhh cheezus!! I’ve been going over your blog and I’ll be trying a few recipies soon. This looks delicious.

Cheers! This is the type of recipe to take to someone else’s house so you don’t eat half the tray [ahem] in one sitting.

Wow, seriously good looking buns right there. They look fluffy, light and sticky. Mmm-mmm!

Thanks! Sticky is right – have wet wipes on hand as these babies are gooey [but good!]

Give ’em a try! But make sure you eat them on the day, they don’t keep well.

I’m all about sweet for breakfast; I’d eat these any time of day! And seeing your last reply, having to eat them all that day doesn’t sound too hard… 🙂

    • thehungrymum July 14, 2012 at 12:02 pm #

If sweet is your thing you’ll LOVE these 🙂

Never ever had this! I’m surprised I didn’t. It sounds undoubtedly good. Cream cheese and lemon and sugar…I’m game. I’ll let you know when I make them.

    • thehungrymum July 14, 2012 at 11:46 pm #

Lemon is such a hero ingredient and when you pair it with sugar & cream cheese… swoon…
Looking forward to seeing your rolls!

Woah, these look DELICIOUS! Perfect brunch recipe!

    • thehungrymum July 15, 2012 at 3:53 am #

I heart brunch – you get to have champers/cakes/rich food and things you would never normally eat before 11am!

  9. thecakemistress July 15, 2012 at 9:48 am #

Were they fairly easy to make and did they take long? I’ve been drooling over these since seeing them at The Kitchn, but I’m a lazy breakfast person 🙂

    • thehungrymum July 15, 2012 at 9:57 am #

I am the *laziest* baker ever! I see recipes and if there are too many steps or tricky techniques I skip it! To be honest these did take quite a while and I started the day before. Save them for when you have a while!

Oh.. I would be right there with you eating more than 6! I haven’t checked out this website but will have to!! I bet you love sweet breakfasts now!! xx

    • thehungrymum July 17, 2012 at 9:56 am #

My poor thighs! 6 times sugar & bread = time to hit the gym! But they were soooo worth it!

  11. FreeFlowFoodie July 15, 2012 at 9:42 pm #

Ohhh la la….for everything lemon, count me in!! Yummy yummm 😉

I love sticky rolls, but some reason lemon sticky rolls have never come across my mind to whip up. I’m definitely going to have to try these, they look fabulous! Thank you for sharing.

    • thehungrymum August 5, 2012 at 10:48 am #

I like them as they were a bit more unusual than cinnamon rolls [which are also mega yum!]

  17. Allison August 20, 2012 at 5:16 pm #

Oo, these sound awesome! What a wonderful idea.

  18. forkandbowl September 14, 2013 at 12:56 pm #

Wow! I have just found your blog and have been browsing through your archives. I agree, I am also not a big fan of the sweet breakfast, but this looks amazing! If I was offered your lemon rolls, I would absolutely be a sweet breakfast convert!
