Please tell me I am not the only person addicted to sweetened condensed milk? I love how rich and unctuous it is, and I adore seeing it poured out of a tin – it is so satisfyingly oozy!
I always grab a tin when I am in the supermarket as it is so versatile when it comes to creating desserts. I make my home-made dulche de leche with it, which in turn gets made into delicious cakes:

or yummy squares: https://thehungrymum.com/2016/08/20/salted-dulce-de-leche-crumble-bars/
I recently grabbed my tin from the pantry to make this simple yet delicious four ingredient sweetened condensed milk cake. This is going to go into my repertoire – so fast and simple to make, and you’d be lucky to have any crumbs left over after serving it to friends.
Next time I might add some lemon zest, or maybe even a swirl of strawberry jam to the batter. I think a pinch of cinnamon would be lovely too. Luckily I always have a spare tin in the pantry 😉
I served mine with just a dust of icing sugar but cream aficionados would probably appreciate a dollop on the side.
GATHER:
1 tin sweetened condensed milk (395 grams)
4 eggs
50 grams butter, melted
1 cup self-raising flour
LET’S GET TO IT:
Spray inside of 20cm round cake pan with non-stick cooking spray and line base with baking paper. Pre-heat oven to 175C.
Place all ingredients into bowl of electric mixer and beat until just combined and smooth.
Scrape into pan and bake for 35 minutes.
Allow to cool in pan before removing to wire rack.
Serve dusted with icing sugar.
I love condensed milk too. This looks so moist and delicious😀
Isn’t it yummy?! thanks, I hope you try it.
Yay! I always have a tin of condensed milk, too. The cake sounds really moist and delicious. I could imagine salted caramel would be perfect with this, too. 😀
I bake magic bars wth sweetened condensed milk, walnuts, coconut and chocolate chips. They are special and I make them for holidays. This cake looks great too! Thanks for sharing.😄
oooh, that sounds so soooo good! Love walnuts!
yum yum!
You’re not alone when it comes to condensed milk – the stuff is addictive! The cake looks great, and I like the ideas for additions. On my “to try soon” list! 🙂
Wow. That really does seem simple. I will have to give it a try, not least because I love condensed milk.
So simple! Easy baking is my forte 😉
So simple, and yay for sweetened condensed milk 🙂
The only thing I like better than a recipe that uses a tin of condensed milk, is a recipe that uses half a tin – because I get to eat the rest! I’m afraid I’ve always been a tragic for condensed milk.
haha! I am afraid this does use the whole tin – but I find running a small rubber spatula inside the ’empty’ tin brings its own rewards 😉
Good gravy, woman! I’ve lost 1/5 of my body mass this year and you keep tempting me. The latest is a 4 ingredient cake — all of which just happen to be in my cupboards. Were you a Siren in a previous life? Mata Hari? Eve, perhaps? If, heaven forbid, I die 200 pounds overweight, check the obituary. No one – but you — will understand my last words “the hungry mum”. (You gotta admit. It’s better than “Rosebud”.)
Ha! I never thought I would make it into someone’s obit! But bravo for dropping so much weight – that’s an epic amount. I am the temptress of the pantry, the enchantress of the muffin pan… Sugar for all!
Looks very refined and tasty!
Thanks so much 🙂
Yum!!!
Thanks so much 🙂
Just wondering what temperature? Have to try!
Hi Denise, I can’t believe I forgot the temp – thanks for letting me know. It is 175 C. Cheers.
Thank you!
Do you think i could add some blueberries to this recipe? And maybe some banana? Coconut flakes on top……? #new2baking
I haven`t tried adding anything to this cake – if you are going to try I would probably skip the banana but maybe scatter a few berries in… let me know how it turns out. Trial and error is the best way to bake!
