I don’t know how I lived so long without a waffle maker! My lovely husband gave me one a few months ago as a gift and I love playing with recipe ideas and baking up yummy treats.

I recently had some salted caramel sauce sitting in the fridge from another recipe I had been experimenting with and I thought I would marry this amazing sauce with a waffle.

The marriage was made in heaven, especially when I served the waffles draped in even more of my salted caramel sauce.

This recipe for salted caramel waffles with caramel sauce make an enormous mound of waffles which was no problem here – they get vacuumed up by Misses 8 and 10 and also popped in lunchboxes. I haven’t tried freezing them, as my freezer is always full to overflowing with random bits and pieces.

This is an easy melt-and-mix waffle recipe that uses pantry staples – aside from the salted caramel sauce. This is Nigella Lawson’s recipe and it is incredible. Make a batch of this sauce! Make it now! It is super fast and uses just a handful of ingredients. The hardest part is not eating the whole damn lot with a spoon straight from the pan – it is so amazingly delicious.

You can use this sauce on puddings, on cakes, drizzled over ice cream, added to milkshakes… or just grab a spoon and eat it from a jar. I won’t tell… Just try to save some for serving with the waffles.

GATHER:

2 cups plain flour

2 tablespoons brown sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

2 cups milk

2 eggs

50 grams butter, melted

¼ cup salted caramel sauce – recipe here: https://thehungrymum.com/2012/04/10/nigella-lawsons-fast-and-easy-salted-caramel-sauce/

Yummy, have always pondered a waffle maker but was worried they would be hard to clean? X

no, not at all. They have non-stick plates so everything just wipes clean. Score!

I’ve a sandwich press with removable plates. They’ve recently come out with waffle plates and I’ve been resisting the urge to buy them. The truth is that I would start far too many days with waffles if I had the means to make them. In other words, you’re not helping matters. 🙂
