Sydney-based mum with a passion for writing, cooking and eating. Oh, how I love to eat: sweet things, savoury things, crunchy and hot exotic things: I am an equal opportunist eater and adore it all. Baking is my forte and I love creating tins full of sweet treats. My daughters are often the guinea pigs for my cooking and with one adventurous eater [Miss 8] and one fussy eater [Miss 6] it can be a trial to create a meal that makes everyone happy.
Eating out with my family, whether at cafes, fine dining establishments or even good fish & chips establishments, makes me super happy. A meal cooked by someone else and no dirty dishes to wash – bliss!
When not child-wrangling, cooking, eating, shopping for food, reading food magazines or snacking I can be found working as a journalist at a Fairfax community newspaper, often with a home-made baked good within easy reach…
Hi Hungry Mum, a friend emailed me the link to your article in the Leader which led me to your blog! I assume that you live locally to the Leader and the Cronulla Library… we do too! Its great to meet a fellow Shire blogger – if you’d like to do a bloggy meet up, I’d love to find a cafe and meet you there for a cuppa – just email me at mylittlegumnut[at]hotmail[dot]com. All the best, Sophie

Thank you so much for coming over to take a look at my blog, it is really appreciated, and particularly for liking my first attempt at a poem since leaving school, many moons ago. 😉 I love your blog. I have no creative flare in the kitchen (luckily my kids have very low culinary expectations) but I can sometimes follow a recipe, so in an attempt at becoming a better mother I am definitely going to give one or two or more of your recipes a go 😉 They look incredible. Will let you know the outcome!
Oh, thank you for making my day with your lovely comments! I’m no chef – all my recipes are fairly basic & easy to create. I hope you do try some – even better, rope the kids in!

You have a wonderful blog set up, I love your wide range of recipes especially the baked sweets as I have a major sweet tooth! I have lots of family in Australia, and while we visit often I have yet to see Sydney (was there only once when I was a baby)! The thing I miss most about Australia is the fish n chips wrapped in newspaper we used to get, that taste brings back too many memories, I look forward to following you on your cooking adventures 🙂
Oh, thank you for your kind words 🙂 Your blog is lovely, too. I hope you get to visit Sydney one day – there’s so much delish food just waiting to be eaten.

Sorry I got a bit emotional when describing what my colleagues did during the Bali bombings. This time of year is always special, here is a post from this week http://yummylummy.com/2015/10/14/thinking-back-to-bali-and-october-2002/ It has a link in it which goes to a more substantial story I wrote in 2012.
Love the new look around here 🙂 Though it’s new to me, maybe not so much to those who have been around this past year. You’re looking good!
Ta Liz! If you like this tweak, wait til you see the facelift I’m about to unveil – well, my blog – not me!! Hope all’s great.
