…. And I’m back! First post of 2013 and yes! It is all about chocolate! Hands up if you don’t love chocolate mousse? [Peers around to see no hands raised]. Just as I thought. It is creamy, it is rich and it is truly decadent. It totally fit the bill for my guest at the New Year’s Eve bash at casa Hungry Mum [and Hungry Dad].
I found this recipe by dessert guru Rachel Allen when I was looking for something to serve in mini glass jars. Yes, like half the planet, I am in love with munchkin-sized servings [means you can have more than one].
I totally meant to snap a pic of these delectable beauties served with double cream and dainty spoon but I may or may not have been champagnely-challenged and didn’t get to it. So you’ll just have to trust me when I say this is one of the best desserts I’ve ever made. Ever.
Plus it has only 5 ingredients and is a doodle to make.
Gather:
100 g dark chocolate, broken into pieces,
75 g caster sugar
2 tablespoons brandy
2 eggs
250 g mascarpone
Let’s get to it:
Place the chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water until melted and glossy. Remove from the heat.
Tip in sugar, brandy and eggs and, using a hand-held electric beater, whisk for five minutes.
Whisk in the mascarpone for a few seconds, just until combined.
Divide between glasses jars and place in fridge for a few hours before serving.

That sounds very delicious!
Thanks! It is very edible x
I agree…one of the best parts of making desserts and sweets in small servings…you can have more than one!
Sounds delicious!
It really is
sounds very naughty and delicious!!! A must keep recipe! the hubster’s French aunty makes a mean chocolate mousse but she doesn’t write down recipes but keeps it all in her head! Must pin her down and get the recipe one day but in the meantime, this’ll keep me going!!
Oooh, choc mousse with a French twist would be lovely! My head is full enough of stuff – I write *everything* down!
I love how simple this recipe is! It sounds absolutely creamy, indulgent and decadent, exactly what a delicious chocolate mousse should be.
